The Horsch house — 417 West Chew Avenue, Olney
Active investigation. No one has been charged in any disappearance. No remains have been recovered and no death has been officially declared.
Since June 2026, Philadelphia police and the FBI have served nearly a hundred search warrants on a rowhouse in the 400 block of West Chew Avenue in Olney and on what was found inside it: more than a million digital items — over 600,000 images, some 70,000 videos and more than 10,000 pages of writing — five urns of cremated remains, firearms and ammunition, drugs and a marijuana grow, and a basement laboratory with a 55-gallon drum plumbed to the water lines and more than twenty containers of substances that a federal lab in Chicago is still identifying.
Police say the material depicts at least 58 people. Seven women have been named by investigators as connected to the house: Gabrielle Amarando, Amy McHale, Maribel Fresses, Nicole Fusaro, Blair Tonzelli, a 25-year-old woman whose family has asked for anonymity, and a woman investigators call Jane Doe. Five of the seven are feared dead. That fear rests on the video and photo evidence — the medical examiner's formulation, as relayed by Inspector Ray Evers, is that if the images are real and unaltered, the people depicted in them are deceased. As of September 23, investigators had found no remains and no biological evidence of a homicide, and the FBI had reviewed roughly 30 percent of the digital material.
The man police describe in the recovered videos, Raymond "R.C." Horsch, died in 2025 at 82. He was never charged in connection with the house. His son, Eugene Horsch, 44, has owned the property since 2006 and has been in federal custody since June 19, 2026, when U.S. Park Rangers found fake DEA and FBI credentials and two loaded firearms in his illegally parked BMW near Independence Mall, and the woman with him produced an ID in Blair Tonzelli's name. He was indicted in July on firearms and credential counts. Nothing on the record charges him in any disappearance.
What this page is: the record as officials have stated it and as reputable outlets have reported it, cross-checked, with the discrepancies flagged. What it is not: a theory. Ray's rule applies to a dead man who was never charged as much as to anyone else — what the videos show is what police say they show.
- Raymond "R.C." Horsch — died in 2025 at 82. Photographer and self-described filmmaker; a reported criminal history of counterfeiting, drug manufacturing, fraudulent identities and firearms. Police say recovered video shows him with women who used drugs before being restrained, and — per sources and briefing coverage — a video that appears to show him strangling a woman with a zip tie. Never charged in connection with the house. Owned the property until 2006. One of the five urns is believed to hold his ashes.
- Eugene Horsch, 44 — R.C.'s son; property owner since 2006. Arrested June 19, 2026 near Independence Mall; indicted in federal court in July on charges of being a felon in possession of firearms, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and possession of fake DEA and FBI credentials. In federal custody since his arrest; represented by attorney Jerome Brown. Next hearing March 22, 2027. Presumed innocent; not charged in any disappearance.
- Gabrielle Amarando — 22 when she disappeared in 2012. Police say recovered images show her alive and then appearing to be dead. Feared dead.
- Amy McHale — 44; last seen in 2016 at the West Chew Avenue house. Previously married to R.C. Horsch. Missing.
- Maribel Fresses — 27 when she disappeared in 2018 (one outlet's summary gives 22; the age is unreconciled). Feared dead.
- Nicole Fusaro — 27 when she disappeared in 2018. Sources have said the zip-tie video is believed to show her. Feared dead.
- Blair Tonzelli — 35 when she disappeared in 2023. An ID in her name, carrying another woman's photo, was found with Eugene Horsch on June 19, 2026. Missing.
- A 25-year-old woman — appears injured and unconscious in recovered images; her identity is known to police, and her family has asked for anonymity. The Blotter honors it.
- "Jane Doe" — unidentified; appears injured and unconscious in recovered files. Police ask anyone who recognizes the house or knew the people who came and went from it to call 215-686-TIPS.
